I had a great time here, looking forward to trying their much talked about happy hour next. Good service and the mashed potatoes were something to be remembered. Steak was perfect and I loved that it was somewhere you can dress up for.

Phenomenal experience and service last night. Our server was amazing a d when I noticed that Cherries Jubilee was no longer on the dessert menu, he took it upon himself to ask if it could be prepared anyways. He went above and beyond in making sure everyone was taken care of throughout the entire meal. The food was fantastic, as usual. We had the filet mignon Oscar style, King crab legs, baseball cut sirloin, crab mac & cheese, and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was prepared perfectly and to order. The ambience was the only thing lacking. I usually go to the Portland location, which has an elegant old school mafia vibe downtown. However, I live in Washington, so the waterfront location is much closer. The restaurant was super loud. I also found myself missing the darker low light vibe and the leather booths. Overall amazing meal, and definitely recommend El Gaucho wherever you find one.

Wonderful evening of celebrations. A 75th birthday and 20 year anniversary. A busy holiday Saturday evening with a relaxed attentive staff. Never felt rushed. French onion soup was the best my husband ever has had. We all had filet Mignon with variations. Done to perfection. The cozy atmosphere is consistent with other locations. Will be back for sure!

My husband and I often celebrate birthdays and anniversaries at El Gaucho Vancouver and are never disappointed by the service and meals. The noise level can be a bit much, but overall it is a gorgeous restaurant with the food and care more than making up for the noise. We celebrated our 7th anniversary last night. We started with crab cakes, hearth roasted bone marrow, and steak tartare. We've gotten the crab cakes before and are never disappointed. It was a first for both of us with the tartare and the bone marrow and they were phenomenal. We even took the bones home for our dogs after eating the marrow. For meals, my husband got the 10oz filet (cooked medium rare) with the king crab leg addition and I got the 18oz lobster tail. The steak was cooked perfectly and so tender and delicious. The lobster and crab were both phenomenal with the drawn butter and lemon. We also got the crab Mac and cheese and the street corn sides to share. The corn is something I crave often and am always satisfied with. We each got a Ruby and a Vanhattan for cocktails and I think the Vanhattan is my new go-to drink there! There was an older couple at the table next to us who gifted us a glass of desert wine and it was amazing, I wish I could remember the name of it! For desert we got the bananas foster with candied walnuts (Bananas Sherwood) and it was absolutely delicious and so fun to watch! I am disappointed that they no longer have their crab bisque, that was my favorite menu item. Hopefully they will bring it back one day, even if just seasonally or as a special.

Beautiful restaurant with a nice esthetic. Good for small or large groups with service one would expect from fine dining. Here were thr items we tried - Toast with cheese and tomato - a little soggy - Marinated chicken skewers were good - Cesar salad was a bit over dressed but croutons were crunchy - filet mignon that was tasty but very undercooked for request of medium - mashed potatoes were smooth - zuccini squash was decent If you're looking to go somewhere nice with good service and have a beautiful waterfront walk after your meal, this is the place for you.

All we can say is WOW! El Gaucho Vancouver hit it outta the park for my 50th Birthday. Dinner & Dessert were phenomenal; more like dinner and a show, featuring their signature "Table-side Flambé Banana Foster." If you can splurge for a special occasion you have to try El Gaucho with all the 'flair.' We started with crab cakes, table side Caesar salad, wedge salad and butternut squash soup for the table. Sides included crab Mac n cheese, lobster mashed potatoes and roasted sweet corn. Steak El Gaucho, 18oz bone in rib eye for two x2 with chimichurri and Béarnaise sauce and Chilean Sea-bass. Everyone was very impressed their meal. The desserts were served family style and we chose pumpkin cheesecake, banana foster and the best Key Lime Pie!! Cheers to 50 thanks for making it amazing!! A special Thanks to Steve Hyun for taking great care of us! It was truly unforgettable!

Impeccable service. Enjoyable dining experience. Only peeve, they charge an automatic 20% gratuity. No issue with that in itself, but the statement from the server bugs the hell out of me. "Full disclosure, we charge 20% gratuity." Saying full disclosure already makes it sound like they've done something shady. He then says, "Only a portion of this goes to your server, (points at himself) so the gratuity line is still open." First. No. Second, refer to first. Third, having been a server in fine dining, (or any restaurant) I've never worked where I didn't have to tip out to the kitchen, bar, and hostess. Sneaky and it took an elevated experience down to cringe. it was almost car salesman-y in that deceptive line. I actually want to go back (partly because I still like the place) but to state that at the end of that gratuity speech to watch them squirm. It feels like the server brought over a tip jar. 20% is a great tip especially with a higher end restaurant. Did I tip him an extra $10? Yes. Will that go to him entirely? Absofuckinglutely not. I'm all about being paid a fair wage and discontinuing tipping altogether anyway. But maybe the restaurant should raise (their already expensive) prices and give that 20% themselves and not place that on the customer. It was an unnecessary pressure at the end of a nice experience and a sneaky ploy to get more than a 20% tip.

This review is for the private dining experience at [Steakhouse Name]. As a pescatarian who usually avoids steakhouses entirely, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the venue for a work event. However, my vegetarian host assured me there would be options, and she wasn't kidding! (While I was initially a bit bewildered by a vegetarian choosing a steakhouse, I didn't pry!) The private dining room was comfortable and perfect for our meeting. The staff truly impressed me. They were attentive without being intrusive, perfectly timed in their service during presentations. I was delighted with the three entree choices, especially the Lobster Risotto. Unlike many similar dishes, this one wasn't shy on the lobster - it practically came with a whole one on top! But the real star of the show? The Key Lime Pie! Sadly, most of us were too full to finish it there. Luckily, the staff noticed and quickly offered to-go boxes for everyone. A bite or two later (which I generously shared with my husband - I deserve the wife of the year for that), I can confidently say this was the best Key Lime Pie I've ever had. It was divine - a perfect combination of tangy lime filling on a toasted marshmallow cream base with a yummy cookie crust. Highly Recommend (Even for Pescatarians!) Now that I know El Gaucho offers more than just steak, I wouldn't hesitate to return and try their other options on my own. Highly recommend for a delicious meal and fantastic service, even if you're not a meat eater! P.S. Still slightly regretting sharing that Key Lime Pie...

I came here for my one-year anniversary dinner and had an amazing time. Located on the Vancouver waterfront, the location is already amazing and you can go for a nice stroll before or after your meal. The inside of the establishment is spacious, with plenty of seating, and dimly lit for a romantic dinner. As we came for our anniversary, they had already prepared a table with roses and decor for us. Service throughout the night went above and beyond to make the occasion special, and I would come back just for it again. Starting our meal was their complimentary garlic bread, which was mouth-watering delicious and I could've had it for dinner alone. For our appetizers we got the calamari, Dungeness crab cakes, and wedge salad and we got the bone-in rib eye for our entree to share. Overall, the appetizers were alright. Definitely good, but nothing that stood out in particular. The calamari wasn't very crispy and the wedge salad had too much dressing for me (but! these are all personal preferences). Out of the three, I would recommend the crab cakes! The steak was great and our waiter was amazing to cut our steak to share. After our entree, they offered complimentary bites that resembled a charcuterie board and a complimentary dessert (we got key lime pie) that was delicious. Overall, I would still love to come back because the service was absolutely amazing and the ambiance was perfect.
